Since I’m signed up for the Oakland Running Festival 5K (my 30 by 30 list has me doing 2 5ks this year), I needed to get back in my running game.

It’s been about 6 weeks since my half marathon, and you know how many times I’ve been running since then? Exactly zero.

So I sketched out a bit of a training plan for myself for the 5K, and had today set to start by doing a “diagnostic run” (you might be a former teacher if…) to find out how long I could actually run after taking so much time off.

Luckily, it wasn’t that tough! I was able to run the full Lake without stopping, which is a 5K. Whew. I was pretty sure I’d struggle to run 5 minutes. I’m glad I was wrong.
